1 – Create Cards From Old Cards

When you want to start creating your own Christmas cards, it’s always a great idea to keep your old cards from last year so that you can use them to create new cards. Simply keep all of your cards from the previous year. Store them away somewhere, perhaps along with your Christmas decorations so you know where to find them. That way, you can use those old cards to create beautiful new ones.

Christmas cards often have cute designs on the front of them and sometimes have beautiful embellishments or pretty Christmas themed accessories stuck on them. These can be re-used for your new cards. If a card has a particularly beautiful design on it, cut it out and stick it on one of your new cards. Then all you need to do is glam it up a little bit with some glitter or cute Christmas themed accessories or stickers and you’re done. It’s as simple as that. A brand new card created from an old card.

This method can be a great money saver and you can end up with some really beautiful and unique Christmas card designs. This is also a fun method that the kids can get involved in. Similarly, the children can keep their old cards and then create new Christmas cards for all their friends using the ones from last year. It’s a great, fun way to create new Christmas cards.

2 – Create Unique Card Shapes

The beauty of making your own cards is that you can design them however you want to. A great, fun idea is to cut out cards in unique shapes. A fun idea for the children is to cut a card out around the shape of their hand. Then the fingers can be made into reindeer legs or turned into Santa’s beard, or whatever you choose to do. This is a fun and unique Christmas card idea that children will love to get involved in.

Cards can be cut out into any shape you want. Why not cut a card out in a Christmas tree shape and then color it in green and add little sequins and fluffy things for decoration? There are endless opportunities to create beautiful and unique Christmas cards. When you decide to make cards yourself at home, there is no limit to what you can do with them.

A quick search in Google or YouTube will bring up thousands of different ideas on how to cut out and create beautiful and unique Christmas cards. Some are more advanced than others, and some are simple enough that children can make them. However, all of them are fun to do and result in beautiful personalized cards that your friends and family will just love.

3 – Use Wrapping Paper

As silly as this sounds, this is also a great tip. Similar to how we mentioned using old Christmas cards to create new designs. You can also create new Christmas cards using the designs from wrapping paper.

If you have bought in wrapping paper already for wrapping Christmas presents, then great. You can use this to cut out some of the cute designs on the paper and use those to stick on or in your new Christmas cards. Similarly, these can also be used as a great background for your new cards. Whatever you choose to do, wrapping paper will always come in handy when it comes to creating beautiful handmade Christmas cards.

Similar to what we mentioned about saving old Christmas cards, a great money saver would be to save your old wrapping paper. If you find that a lot of your wrapping paper remains untorn on Christmas day, keep it. Store it away and save it for next year when you can create some new and beautiful Christmas cards using designs from the untorn Christmas paper.

4 – Personalize the Cards with Pictures

A great Christmas card idea is to create cards that are personalized using personal photos on them. For example, you can create a unique card using a picture of the whole family together, and then decorating that picture with glitter, stickers and other Christmassy accessories.

Another great idea is to create a card using a picture of someone’s pet. Say for example you have a friend who has a dog that they love. Why not print out a picture of their dog and then add a little Santa’s beard to it out of cotton fluff? Or draw some little antlers on it and a red nose.

Similarly, if you have a group of friends, print out a picture of the group and then draw red noses on everyone. Then hand those cards out to everyone in your friendship group for a great laugh. There are so many cute and fun ideas that you can do to really personalize a card in a special way for someone.

5 – Create an Ornament Card

Christmas ornaments will last year after year, so why not create one for someone as a gift this year? A great idea would be to use a beautiful and memorable photo and print that out to create a gorgeous, unique and personalized Christmas ornament.

Take, for example, a picture of their pet, or of their newborn baby, and print that out. Then cut it into a Christmassy shape such as a star and then decorate it with glitter, stickers, or whatever other Christmassy crafty things you have lying around. Then all you need to do is add a little hole at the top and loop some Christmassy ribbon through it so that the ornament can be hung easily.

A Christmas ornament is a sentimental gift that the receiver can use year after year. These are great for hanging on Christmas trees and will be a special reminder to that person that you love and care for them during the holiday season.

We hope that these Christmas card ideas have sparked some inspiration for you.
