1 – Plan Ahead

Far too often, people spend weeks worrying about getting the shopping done. Instead, it’s better to start stocking up on things as soon as you think of them. Make a list of all the things that you need to get and then cross them off the list when you’ve got them. This will ensure that you don’t end up getting the sam thing twice accidentally. As for presents, a great tip is to have an emergency supply of gifts. Just buy a few small generic gifts and keep them somewhere in the background. This will save you from any embarrassment if someone shows up at your door with a present for you.

2 – Keep It Cool At The Work Christmas Party

The Christmas celebrations usually start with the work’s Christmas party. Of course, it is the time to let your hair down, but there’s a particular line that just should not be crossed. We’ve all gotten a bit too drunk at some point and had to live with the regrets – don’t let that happen to you at the work’s Christmas party. Just keep in mind that these are the people that you have to face every single day – so just don’t do anything that you might regret at a later date.

3 – Don’t Expect Too Much

You can’t possibly expect to create the perfect Christmas, it simply doesn’t exist and you’ll just feel disappointed when your Christmas doesn’t live up to your exceptions. The most important part of Christmas is for you and your family to have as much fun as you can. The best thing you can do is just spend time together and have a great time. If something doesn’t quite go to plan, it’s not the end of the world, and you can still have fun!

4 – Don’t Try To Do Everything

If you are hosting the holiday dinner, then you can’t expect to do it all by yourself and surely your family won’t expect that of you.  A good idea would be to ask your family members to bring parts of the meal with them to make your life a little easier. I’m sure they’d be happy to oblige and will be happy to help you out. Amongst all of the stress of getting everything ready and preparing all of the different aspects of hosting Christmas day, just make sure you leave some time for yourself. Allow yourself a break to do something you enjoy – even if you just stick your favourite Christmas move on and chill with a glass of wine – indulge in a well-deserved break.

5 – Everything In Moderation

Christmas is all about food and drink, but often we can go a bit too far with eating and drinking and then regret it when it comes to the new year.  The best thing you can do is just eat and drink everything in moderation. Try to limit the amount of alcohol you drink and also try not to stuff your face with food too much wherever possible. This will save you from the cliche diet and sudden gym sessions come January.

6 – Stay Hydrated

If you fin yourself overdoing it with the alcohol then it’s important to get yourself back on track as soon as possible.  If you’re feeling rough form having a few too many drinks, don’t sit around feeling ill. Instead you need to get up and make sure you drink plenty of fluids. Staying hydrated it the essential ingredient to getting over a hangover.

7. Stay Active

Staying active is important all of the time. Exercising improves your mood and keeps you staying happier and more positive. Keeping fit during the festive season will also make you feel much better about yourself as you will feel happy and healthy.  Exercising is also a great stress reliever – perfect for helping you deal with the stresses of the holiday season.

8. Get Plenty Of Sleep

Sleeping is the time when our bodies recover from all of the stresses and strains from the day. The festive season can often mess up our sleeping pattern. The parties and all of the food and drink that we consume can result in us staying up much later. People can often be sleep deprived over the festive season which can result in increased stress, worse moods and bad health. Therefore, it is essential to ensure that you get plenty of sleep during the holiday period.

9. Time Off

If possible, plan your vacation days so that you are not forced into having to work over the Christmas period. If you try to combine work with all the partying and planning that comes with Christmas, then you may find yourself becoming overwhelmed. If you can take time off work, especially in the run up to Christmas, you will prevent yourself from becoming overworked and overstressed by the time Christmas finally arrives.

10. Spend Time With Other People

Some people can struggle at Christmas time with loneliness. If you think that you might suffer from loneliness around the Christmas season then do something about it before it’s too late.  Plan events with your friends and family and try to sort yourself out with a jam-packed Christmas schedule so that you never get bored or lonely. Try to do as much as you can and make time to see all of your friends and family.

We hope that this holiday survival guide helps you in some way during the festive season.
