Why Are Funny Birthday Quotes So Great?
Funny birthday quotes are great because they’re something that everyone can relate to. The majority of people dread getting older, and funny birthday quotes are great for easing the emotional strain of another birthday.
Ten Funny Birthday Quotes for You and Your Friends
Are you ready to celebrate another year of wisdom? Or perhaps you’re just ready to party. Either way, these ten funny birthday quotes will get you pumped for another year of life!
1. “Inside every older person is a younger person – wondering what the hell happened.” – Cora Harvey Armstrong
This quote is funny because it’s true. Although your body may get older and older with age, your mind never changes. Although you may get wiser with age, your brain stays the same. You may notice physical changes in your body as you age, but your thoughts stay the same. I think that’s really what this quote is touching on – the fact that physically you appear older, but on the inside you’re still the same person you were twenty years ago.
2. “Middle age is when you’ve met so many people that every new person you meet reminds you of someone else” – Ogden Nash
Despite being in my 20s, I’ve actually started noticing this. I quite often meet a new person who reminds me of someone I’ve already met and then I’ll be stuck for hours trying to think of who they remind me of. It’s quite funny actually and I’m sure quite common. I’ve known other people who have also experienced this so it’s a very true quote and is definitely very funny and relatable.
3. “You are only young once, but you can stay immature indefinitely.” – Ogden Nash
This is a great quote and it is absolutely true. Like I said earlier, age is just a number and really, you’re as young as you feel. Who decided that maturity is the norm when you’re older? – someone boring I’ll bet. If you stay immature and stay true to your own silly self, you’ll feel so much younger and better for it. I always try to embrace my immaturity and have a laugh with my friends. Life would be so boring without a little bit of immaturity.
4. “You know you are getting old when the candles cost more than the cake.” – Bob Hope
This is a great funny birthday quote for when people are getting older. Although people don’t generally have candles on their cakes as they get older, if they did have candles that reflected their age, older people would need to pay a lot of money for the candles as they would need a lot of them. That’s why this quote is so funny for older people. It also seems hilarious to imagine that many candles on a cake. My mother is turning fifty in a couple of months, imagine if I were to put fifty candles on a cake. Not only would it be expensive, but just the thought of that many candles on a cake is really funny.
5. “Birthdays are good for you. The more you have, the longer you live.” – Unknown
This is a simple funny birthday quote as it is just purely the truth. The more birthdays you have, the older you get. It’s so true, because if we didn’t reach another birthday, we wouldn’t be getting any older and therefore wouldn’t be living any longer. The simplicity of this quote is what makes it so funny.
6. “Old age is like a plane flying through a storm. Once you are aboard there is nothing you can do about it.” – Golda Meir
Again, this is a funny quote because it’s true. As you get older, you just have to sort of get on with it. As much as we would love to freeze time and our age, it’s impossible, so you just have to continue on. Rather than thinking about our age, we should all just embrace life and do as much as we can while we’re young enough and physically able. Using the plane as a metaphor in this instance makes this quote funny.
7. “Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.” – Mark Twain
This is a great quote as it touches on exactly what I have been trying to say – we should all just embrace life. If you care too much about your age, you’ll never get anything done. Instead of focusing on how old you’re getting, just create new experiences and fill up your time with fun new adventures. This quote is funny because it takes a well known saying and adapts it into a birthday quote.
8. “Youth is such a wonderful thing. What a crime to waste it on children.” – George Bernard Shaw
This is a funny birthday quote as youth refers to children and teenagers. Unfortunately, you grow out of your youthful years when you become an adult. Most children and teenagers can’t wait to be older, and it’s only when you’re older that you realize your youthful years are the best years. That’s why this quote says “What a crime to waste it on children” – as children don’t realize how great they have it until it’s too late and that’s what makes this such a funny birthday quote.
9. “When you turn thirty, a whole new thing happens: you see yourself acting like your parents.” – Blair Sabol
Nobody ever thinks that they’ll grow up to be like their parents, yet we all do grow up to be like our parents. Turning thirty is a small milestone in the path to being middle aged and above, and it’s at this step that you’ll notice you’re becoming more and more like your parents. Age has a way of making you act a certain way and this is something you’ll notice more as you get older. That’s why this quote is so funny, because it’s something that everyone will relate to when they get to a certain age.
10. “For all the advances in medicine, there is still no cure for the common birthday.” – John Glenn
As I mentioned earlier, everyone has birthdays every single year. There’s no escaping it. As much as you might want to skip your birthday, it’s always going to be there, year after year. There is no cure for a birthday, however all you can do is live your life to the fullest so that you feel fulfilled that every year you’ve filled your year with great experiences for your age. This is a great funny birthday quote as it creates humor out of the fact that nobody wants to get any older once they reach a certain point.
